Visalakshi is the Founding member of Tata Capital Healthcare Fund (www.tatacapitalhealthcarefund.com), an India dedicated Healthcare & Life Sciences Private Equity Fund. She has spent nearly three decades across Healthcare Private Equity, Equity Research and Pharmaceutical R&D operations.
As head of the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund, Visalakshi drives the fund raising and investment management activities of the fund. She has successfully led the fund raise in both vintages of the Tata Capital Healthcare Funds (I and II), with commitments in excess of USD 200MN from international and domestic institutional investors and corporates. She is actively involved in portfolio management through presence on Board and other committees of Investee companies. Under her leadership, the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund has delivered profitable returns and boasts a robust performance track record - for which the Fund was awarded ‘Healthcare Investor of the Year’ for three consecutive years, 2018, 2019 and 2020 by Venture Intelligence and most recently as ‘Healthcare Fund Raise of the Year’ as well as ‘Healthcare Leadership Award’ for 2022.
Visalakshi has a vast experience within the pharmaceutical industry as well as commercial & investment experience in the industry. She started her career as a research scientist at Cipla, a global pharmaceutical company and thereafter, spent over 12 years as Lead Healthcare investment analyst at leading financial services firms like Kotak Securities and Merrill Lynch where she was Senior Director of India Healthcare Equity Research and rated No. 2 in Asia for Healthcare for 2008 on the prestigious Institutional Investor (II) poll rankings.
Visalakshi is a Chemical Technologist from ICT Mumbai (specialization in pharmaceuticals & fine chemicals) and MBA (finance) from Mumbai University. She is also a graduate in Advanced Management Program (AMP) from the Harvard Business School. Visalakshi has also been recognized as ‘India’s Top 100 Women in Finance’ by AIWMI (Oct.’2020). Visalakshi is also the co-author of India’s first ‘Impact assessment Standards and Framework’ released by the Impact Future Project. Visalakshi is also part of the Leadership Team and governance committee of the Healthcare Industry body, NATHEALTH and is involved in recommending and driving national healthcare policies.
Outside of work, Visalakshi is training in the art of Hindustani and Carnatic Violin instrument styles.
Vamesh joined Tata Capital in March 2015 as Partner of the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund. He has over 25+ years of experience in investment banking and private equity advisory. His experience spans managing investments and advising businesses across multiple industries. Vamesh co-leads the healthcare fund team and is actively involved in managing the full lifecycle including new fundraising, investing, portfolio management and divestments.
Prior to joining Tata Capital, Vamesh was the Managing Director of New Enterprise Associates (India) Pvt. Ltd.(NEA), an affiliate of the US based venture capital firm and he was focused on investing in Pharma and Lifesciences sectors, where he led investments in a company engaged in manufacturing of radiation therapy equipment and a company developing digital medical education courseware.
Prior to joining NEA, he served as a Director, Kotak Private Equity Group, where he was responsible for originating transactions and investing in several companies across a wide variety of sectors viz. Logistics, Retail, Infrastructure, Financial Services apart from Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals. During his stint with Kotak, he has experienced a full life cycle of successful fund raising, investing and exiting businesses.
Prior to his stint with Kotak, Vamesh worked with leading investment banks such as Enam Financial, ICICI Securities, Prime Securities, Standard Chartered Bank and Canbank. For a large part of his career, he has focused on private equity advisory and has successfully structured transactions across multiple sectors including IT and ITES, media and entertainment, healthcare, retailing, logistics, telecom, textiles, and oil and gas related services.
Vamesh holds a Post Graduate degree in Business Management from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and is a Commerce graduate from Mumbai University.
Rishaad joined Tata Capital Private Equity in August 2011. Rishaad has 17 years of private equity invetsment experience in India and 23 years of private equity, venture capital and investment banking experience in India, UK and US. Rishaad has full cycle private equity experience in sourcing, monitoring, and exits of transactions, as well as fund raising and investor relationship.
Prior to joining the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund, Rishaad was a Partner with the Tata Opportunities Fund (TOF). At TOF, Rishaad involved in the Fund’s investments and exits in Varroc Engineering (auto component) and TVS Supply Chain Solutions (third party logistics), and part of the deal monitoring team for Fincare Small Finance Bank (financial services). AT TOF, Rishaad was responsible for originating transactions and investing in several companies across a wide variety of sectors viz. consumer goods, logistics, manufacturing, retail, business outsourcing services. Rishaad also played a key role in fund raising and investor relationships.
Prior to joining Tata Capital Private Equity, Rishaad spent five years with the JM Financial Private Equity Fund in Mumbai where he served as a vice president and executed transactions in retail, offshore logistics, business outsourcing and consumer sectors. Prior to that, Rishaad was with NBGI Ventures in London and JP Morgan Chase's investment banking division in London and New York.
Rishaad is a graduate of the London Business School (MBA) and Harvard University (BA, Economics).
Sandeep joined the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund in 2016 as Principal and drives the investment assessment, transaction management, fund raising, post investment and exit management activities at the fund. He has about fifteen years of Private Equity advisory and Merger & Acquisition experience across early to late stage deals. He has worked in sectors such as healthcare, logistics, transportation, e-commerce and consumer.
Prior to Joining the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund, Sandeep spent nine years with firms like Alvarez and Marsal, KPMG and Evalueserve. During this period, he has worked across investment assessment, deal life cycle support, fund raising, operations management, revenue improvement, cost management and margin expansion programs. His experience is spread across multiple countries world-wide and has advised more than 50 funds and corporates in India. Sandeep also has vast experience in commercial evaluation of investments. He has worked on transactions worth US$ 3 billion including medical devices, hospital chains, health insurance and pharmaceutical product distribution.
Sandeep holds a Bachelors in Technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and a Masters in Business Management from Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow.
Henal joined the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund in 2023 as Vice President and is responsible for fund related activities including fund raising, end-to-end transaction management, monitoring and exit. He has over fourteen years of Private Equity advisory, Corporate M&A and Investment Banking experience. He has worked in various sectors including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, textiles, and education.
Prior to joining the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund, Henal has worked in Piramal Pharma Limited, KPMG India, Merisis Advisors and ICICI Bank. During this period, he has worked across the deal life cycle as both an investor and a banker. He has worked on both domestic and cross-border deals across all segments of the pharmaceutical industry.
Henal holds a Bachelor in Technology (Computer Science and Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore.
Vivek is an Associate Vice President at Tata Capital Healthcare fund. He is a part of the investment team and his responsibilities include deal sourcing, execution and monitoring of portfolio companies.
Vivek has around eight years of experience in private equity, investment banking and transaction advisory services. Prior to joining TCHF, Vivek was based in London, UK, as part of the investment team at Calculus Capital, a venture capital fund investing in Technology and Healthcare companies based in UK. At Calculus, Vivek completed five investments in early stage B2B SaaS and Healthcare companies.
Vivek began his career at EY in the valuations and business modelling team based in Mumbai, he was primarily focused on the pharmaceutical products and companies valuations. Post EY, he joined a boutique investment banking firm in Mumbai where he executed multiple transactions in financial services, healthcare and technology sectors.
Vivek holds an MBA from University of Oxford, Said Business School and a BE (Biomedical Engineering) from Manipal Institute of Technology
Prianka has around six years of experience in private equity, strategy consulting, buy-side transaction advisory and business analytics. She joined Tata Capital Healthcare Fund as a Senior Associate in 2024 and is engaged in the entire investment lifecycle from fund raising, deal sourcing, portfolio monitoring and exits.
Prior to joining TCHF, Prianka was working as a Senior Manager at Alvarez and Marsal and has experience in commercial and operational due diligence, revenue enhancement, digital transformation and GTM strategy in multispecialty and single specialty chains, e-pharmacy, consumer internet and retail sectors.
Prianka began her career at Novartis Healthcare in the business analytics division and worked extensively with leadership teams across geographies to provide data driven insights on strategy and marketing effectiveness of key blockbuster drugs.
Prianka holds an MBA in Finance from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai and a B.Tech in Biotechnology from National Institute of Technology, Warangal where she was an Institute Merit Scholar.
Sharmin is an Executive Secretary at Tata Capital Healthcare Fund and has been with Tata Capital Limited since 2018. Prior to becoming a part of TCHF, Sharmin was providing end to end Management Support to the Partners & Team at Tata Opportunities Fund and to the Head & members of the Digital Team.
Sharmin comes with an overall work experience of 18 years in managing Senior Leadership. She is highly efficient in client-centric customer service office operations and is highly resourceful.
Post her graduation from Sophia College in Hotel Management & Food Technology. Sharmin also has an Executive Secretarial Diploma from Sir. J. J. College Of Commerce and started her career with Bombay Dyeing Limited, further she worked at reputed companies like Bain Capital, JBF Industries Limited where she has provided seamless support to PE Teams as well as coordinating several corporate events. Before joining Tata Capital Limited, Sharmin also worked for the Managing Director & CEO at Welspun Corp Limited.
In her spare time, Sharmin is an active volunteer with her son’s football team at school and pursues her hobby of drawing and painting, along with listening to music.
